At the helm of KING KONG’s music is Marius de Vries, the BAFTA-winning composer and arranger of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet
The multi-layered score travels through genre and time: from revamped popular standards from the period like ‘Get Happy’, ‘I Wanna Be Loved By You’ and ‘Brother Can You Spare a Dime’, to mash-ups of old and new songs; and from new and adapted lyrics of existing melodies to remixes of contemporary tracks.
The sounds range from electronic tribal rhythms, to a Broadway kick line, from rap to a traditional belt-it-out number. With an impressive line-up of contemporary artists contributing to the score: Robert del Naja from Massive Attack, Sarah McLachlan, Justice, Guy Garvey from Elbow and The Avalanches, KING KONG takes audiences on a musical journey unlike any other.
